Game Freak announced Ame no Chi Hare Onna, a mobile title that will use real-world weather and forecasts across Japan to change daily gameplay. The developer said the game will launch on Android and iOS in Japan this winter.
CHRONOGATE is co-developing the project with Game Freak. Shigeru Ohmori, who worked on the Pokémon series and the Pokémon Pokopia concept, will serve as director and producer on the title.
Ame no Chi Hare Onna is set in modern-day Japan and casts players as Hare Onna, a magical girl who draws power from local weather to complete missions. The game will track current conditions and forecasts to alter in-game paths and events, creating a changing daily play loop tied to what is happening outside.
Kumorin appears as a divine messenger who supplies Hare Onna’s powers. Character design credits include Aki Minamino for Hare Onna and Kyoko Abe for Kumorin. Voice actors announced for the roles are Hiyori Kono as Hare Onna and Yuki Nagano as Kumorin.
The development team presented the project and introduced the characters during the first Hare Onna Club Meeting livestream, where they discussed design goals and upcoming plans. Game Freak plans to share additional details at Tokyo Game Show 2026, scheduled for Sept. 17–21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
