Arc Raiders player base drops; major update due in October
Daily active users fell from nearly 500,000 at launch to about 50,000 since December 2025. Developer Embark schedules the next major update for October.
Arc Raiders’ daily active users fell from nearly 500,000 at its peak to about 50,000 since December 2025, according to developer figures. The studio has scheduled its next major content update for October.
Arc Raiders is an extraction shooter built around roughly 30-minute Topside runs to loot and exfil while avoiding the Arc, automated robotic enemies, and other human Raiders. Voice communication among players and streaming helped grow interest at launch.
Player activity began declining in December 2025 and has steadied at the current level in recent months. The developer adopted a twice-yearly cadence for major content drops; the next large update, referred to by the community as Frozen Trials, is expected to add a new biome, new Arc threats, a new map and revisions to progression systems.
Until October the studio is releasing smaller content such as trials, short missions, and expeditions, full-wipe events. Those additions are the primary content updates while major releases are months apart.
Arc Raiders employs aggression-based matchmaking that tracks player behavior on runs and places users into lobbies with others who show similar aggressive or cooperative tendencies. A smaller active pool can increase the likelihood that players with differing playstyles are grouped together, altering the balance between competitive and cooperative encounters.
The game has received attention for its environmental design and audio, with locations and sound work cited as strengths. The studio drew criticism at launch for using text-to-speech to voice many in-game lines; Design Director Virgil Watkins has stated that many of the generated lines “have been re-recorded using real actors since launch.”
Newer players still have content to explore, and veteran players continue to rely on time-limited events and periodic updates. Community activity levels and matchmaking pools will be monitored by the developer ahead of the October update.
