Arknights: Endfield apologizes over alleged ‘pinch’ animations

GRYPHLINE apologized on Naver after Korean players flagged operator animations that appeared to show pinch gestures. The studio says the motions were artistic and are under review.

GRYPHLINE issued an apology on Naver after Korean players raised concerns that several operator animations in Arknights: Endfield appeared to show pinch gestures. The developer said the animations were created for artistic reasons and that the matter is under internal review.

Community Manager Pelica wrote that the team had reviewed feedback submitted by community administrators and “apologized for the concern caused.” The post confirmed the reports were “forwarded to the relevant department and is undergoing internal review,” and said the studio will assess whether any animations should be adjusted.

The developer explained the animations were produced with character design, visual quality and natural motion in mind, and that there was no hidden meaning behind the gestures. GRYPHLINE added it will consider changes where motions appear unnatural and will continue to monitor community feedback.

Reaction to the apology has been mixed. Many Korean players raised the initial complaint and requested a review. Some international players defended the studio, arguing the alleged pinch gestures are often barely visible or occur between frames or during finger-snap animations.

The report follows another dispute around the game roughly a month earlier, which had already drawn attention to the developer and the title. Pelica’s post did not name specific operators or provide a timeline for any adjustments.

Arknights: Endfield is a 3D strategy role-playing game with an international player base. GRYPHLINE said it will continue to evaluate community input and publish further updates after the internal review is completed.
