Armatus lands on Game Pass day one, launches Jan. 7, 2027
Armatus launches Jan. 7, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Counterplay Games’ Armatus will release on Jan. 7, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. It will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, giving subscribers immediate access at launch.
Developer Counterplay Games and publisher Fictions confirmed the date at Gamescom 2026 and released a new trailer that highlighted combat and level design.
Armatus is a dark roguelite shooter set in a post-apocalyptic Paris overrun by demons. Players control a member of an ancient order searching the ruined city for the Sunless Gate.
Gameplay combines fast melee strikes, firearms and celestial-powered supernatural abilities that can be swapped during play. Levels are procedurally generated, producing new rooms, enemy placements and loot on each run.
The game uses a roguelite loop: when characters die they return to the gate but retain abilities earned during the run. Players can buy persistent upgrades between runs to strengthen builds and change playstyle over time.
Combat emphasizes gunplay and allows mixing weapon loadouts with supernatural attacks. Enemy difficulty scales as players progress, requiring different strategies and equipment choices. The Gamescom trailer focused on fast clashes against demon hordes.
Armatus will launch simultaneously on the listed platforms on Jan. 7, 2027. Day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass will let subscribers play at release without a separate purchase.
