Asian Games 2026: Iran wins eFootball; Japan takes Pokémon UNITE

Iran won eFootball gold over Malaysia; Japan beat Indonesia for Pokémon UNITE gold at the Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Sept. 19–Oct. 4, 2026.

Mobile esports at the 2026 Asian Games produced medal matches in eFootball and Pokémon UNITE, with finals contested in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya as part of the Games running Sept. 19–Oct. 4, 2026.

The eFootball final on Sept. 23 ended with Iran defeating Malaysia 4-2 on aggregate. Iran’s squad featured Hassan Pajani and Abdolfazl Aghaeinasab. Malaysia’s pairing included Farush Luzman and Muhammad Hariz Hazmi Hakimin. The event used a two-player format that pairs one console player with one mobile player; the combined results determined the aggregate score.

The Pokémon UNITE gold-medal match took place on Sept. 27 in a best-of-five series. Japan and Indonesia split the first two games before Japan won matches three and four to claim the title 3-1.

Additional mobile finals were scheduled across the week. Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile were set for Sept. 28, with PUBG Mobile continuing through Sept. 29, and Identity V scheduled for Sept. 30. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was also included among the mobile events. Organizers will award medals as each final concludes.

Esports competitions ran alongside traditional sports at the Asian Games in Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture. National teams and professional players represented their countries in the phone-based events, with medals contributing to each country’s overall Games tally.
