Top Gun trailer shows two-seat jets and Wake Island revamp
EA released a Battlefield 6 Top Gun trailer showing two new two-seat jets, a redesigned Wake Island built around carriers, and air modes Carrier Strike and Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep on Aug. 18.
Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios released a gameplay trailer for the Battlefield 6 Top Gun collaboration. The trailer previews two new two-seat jets, a redesigned Wake Island and two air modes that join the game on Aug. 18.
The aircraft are the F-74A Seacat and the F/A-81F Super Spectre. Both are configured for a pilot and a second crew member who can operate weapons. The footage shows the jets in large-scale battles with an emphasis on dogfights, close-range air combat and support for ground and naval units.
Wake Island has been rebuilt around carrier operations. Each team will use an aircraft carrier as a base. The map includes new approaches for attacks from sea, land and air, and carrier locations serve as objectives in the Carrier Strike mode.
Carrier Strike tasks teams with seizing sectors on Wake Island to bring in vehicles and reposition forces to attack the opposing carrier. Once a carrier’s hull is breached, combat can move inside the ship for a final phase of the match.
Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a REDSEC mission where teams must destroy a series of targets under a time limit. Objectives include shooting down enemy aircraft and destroying stockpiles across the map. Teams typically split roles between ground objectives and aerial support during these missions.
The update adds three playable Top Gun characters: Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd and Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates. These avatars arrive with the Aug. 18 update alongside the jets, Wake Island rework and the two new modes.
EA and Battlefield Studios presented the trailer as a preview of the mid-August update, which integrates the new aircraft and mission types with Battlefield 6’s large-scale systems.
