BGMI Lite to Launch in India Late 2026
KRAFTON India confirmed BGMI Lite will launch in India in late 2026. Pre-registration is expected to open in September.
KRAFTON India confirmed Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Lite will arrive in India in late 2026, with pre-registration expected to begin in September. The company says the edition is built for players using lower-end smartphones and will require less storage and memory than the standard game.
The Lite edition will feature shorter matches, smaller maps and faster gameplay loops to suit devices with limited performance. KRAFTON has indicated the game will include Arena modes, team-based matches and built-in anti-cheat systems to protect match integrity on lower-spec hardware.
KRAFTON described the project as in advanced stages of development and slated for release toward the end of 2026. Company communications point to a September pre-registration window that will allow early access, username reservation and in-game rewards; some reports have cited a possible November release for the public launch.
Players in India have sought a lighter version of BGMI since the title’s 2021 debut. Earlier entries in the franchise included PUBG Mobile Lite, released in 2019 for devices with limited memory and storage; that version was later removed from app stores in 2020 alongside other titles. BGMI itself was introduced in 2021 and experienced a temporary removal from service before becoming available again.
KRAFTON expanded local engagement in recent months with campus programs and regional tournaments. The company’s 2026 esports calendar lists multiple domestic and international events, and KRAFTON has highlighted compliance with local regulations and the inclusion of in-game protections in prior releases.
KRAFTON has not published minimum device requirements, exact map sizes or a firm pre-registration date. Further technical details and an official release date are expected as the developer finalizes the Lite edition.
