Broken Ranks launches Android early access in four regions
Whitemoon has released Broken Ranks on Android early access in the Philippines, Indonesia, Poland and Singapore. An iOS release is scheduled for a later date.
Whitemoon has launched early access for Broken Ranks, a story-driven isometric MMORPG, on Android in the Philippines, Indonesia, Poland and Singapore. The early access build is available through the Google Play Store. Whitemoon said an iOS release will follow at a later date.
Broken Ranks first released on Windows. The early access label indicates development will continue and the developer plans to deliver updates and changes while the game is distributed on mobile.
The game uses an isometric view and centers on a refugee protagonist who seeks strength and a place in a new land after an invasion. The narrative is nonlinear and places emphasis on player choices. Quests can lead to difficult decisions and outcomes that affect local communities and story threads, such as choosing village leadership or uncovering unexpected explanations for supposed hauntings.
Combat is tactical and turn-based. Players select from seven classes, including Barbarian, Fire Mage and Archer, each with distinct abilities that expand tactical options over time. The game supports party-based encounters and player-versus-player engagements where coordinated strategies are important.
The game world includes cities, cloud-topped mountains, ruins and other locations populated by monsters and characters with backstories. Encounters range from governance decisions in settlements to small human moments discovered during exploration.
Broken Ranks is presented as the successor to The Pride of Taern and uses classic computer RPG design elements such as its perspective, art style and narrative structure. The Android early access release is limited to the listed regions; users in those markets can download the game from the Google Play Store while Whitemoon works on a wider mobile rollout and future updates.
