Bulkhead Delays Wardogs Season 3 Preview to Refine Plans

Bulkhead has postponed a Wardogs Season 3 devlog, saying it needs more time to finalize its plans after quality problems during Season 2.

Bulkhead has postponed a Wardogs devlog that was due to cover the current state of Season 2 and preview Season 3. The developer wants more time to finalize the information before releasing it publicly.

Community Manager Brian “L0ssy” McCrann announced the delay this week. “We’re making some big moves and want to get the information right before committing to camera,” he wrote. “It’ll take longer, but this is us building out a stable foundation for Season 3 and beyond.”

The delay follows a podcast discussion last weekend involving four members of the Wardogs team. Executive Producer Joe Brammer described the pace of updates as too fast and acknowledged that the team reacted too quickly to player feedback while preparing Season 2.

Brammer explained that the team was concerned because Wardogs’ large player base was using its available content quickly. Bulkhead responded by adding several features to Season 2, but the work did not meet the studio’s usual quality standards.

“And you know what happened? The quality dropped,” Brammer said. “We didn’t double down on everything, the way we’ve iterated and iterated for years, thrown things away twice and kept the third one.”

Bulkhead had previously announced that Season 3 would begin earlier than planned. Creative Director Tim Nightingale described the change as having “put a sour taste in people’s mouths.” The studio is now reviewing how it communicates its upcoming plans.

Season 3 is scheduled to launch Thursday, Nov. 12. Bulkhead has confirmed that it will add limited servers, although the feature’s final name has not been chosen. The servers will restrict matches to early- and midgame equipment, excluding high-rank armor, power weapons, tanks and artillery.

Nightingale noted that the servers may no longer be needed when Wardogs reaches version 1.0. For Season 3, they are intended to offer matches without the game’s strongest equipment.

Because Season 2 was shortened, Bulkhead plans to extend the availability of gold skins so players have more time to obtain them. The delayed devlog is expected to include further details about Season 3 and later updates.
