Company of Heroes reimagined as a standalone WWII roguelite RTS

Relic Entertainment will release Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, a standalone roguelite reworking of the WWII RTS with run-based progression and co-op, on July 29 for $29.99.

Relic Entertainment will release Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand on July 29 via Steam. The title is a standalone roguelite reworking of the World War II real-time strategy series and will be priced at $29.99 or £23.99. The expansion is available for wishlist on Steam and will carry a 10% launch discount; owners of Company of Heroes 3 receive a 20% bundle discount.

Final Stand replaces a traditional linear campaign with run-based gameplay. Each run sends players through roughly a dozen waves of increasingly difficult enemy attacks. During runs players choose between upgrades and new abilities, and they can add units such as a ranger squad with bonus weapon drops or an M4 Sherman Bulldozer tank. Command options include recon marking, airstrikes and long-range bombardments. The expansion supports single-player and cooperative play and uses a persistent progression system that unlocks permanent upgrade trees across multiple runs.

Four playable factions launch with Final Stand: US Forces, British Forces, the Wehrmacht and the Deutsches Afrikakorps. Each faction has a distinct progression tree that expands as players complete runs and meet specified objectives. To limit runaway power growth, the expansion offers eight difficulty levels and an optional endless mode for ongoing challenge.

Relic built five battleground maps specifically for wave-based encounters. The content list includes 36 boss units and 18 dynamic events that can alter the course of a run. The studio developed Final Stand on the existing Company of Heroes 3 foundation after several post-launch updates to the base game.

Relic has released additional battlegroup DLC for Company of Heroes 3 in recent months and has committed to continued updates and new content for the franchise. The Company of Heroes series will mark its 20th anniversary in September, and Relic plans a Definitive Edition update for the first game in the series.
