Cross Gate Mobile opens Aug. 13 open beta; pre-registration live

Cross Gate Mobile, a remaster of the 2001 MMORPG licensed by Square Enix, will run an open beta for Android and iOS in select regions starting Aug. 13, 2026; pre-registration is open.

EXP UP Company Limited announced an open beta for Cross Gate Mobile, a modern remaster of the 2001 MMORPG, scheduled to begin Aug. 13, 2026. The test will run on Android and iOS in select regions, and pre-registration is available on the game’s official website.

The title is officially licensed by Square Enix and builds on the original game developed by Dwango. The 2001 release attracted players with anime-style visuals, strategic turn-based combat and a system for collecting and raising companion creatures.

The mobile version retains turn-based tactical combat. Battles emphasize elemental strengths and weaknesses and the positioning of characters. The remaster also includes a Creature System that lets players collect companions, train their skills and use some companions as mounts for exploration.

Cross Gate Mobile will offer both player-vs-environment and player-vs-player modes. PvE content includes exploration, story-driven encounters and cooperative boss fights. PvP features competitive arenas and tournaments.

Outside combat, the game includes non-combat activities such as mining, herb gathering, crafting, fishing, farming and cooking. The title also supports a player-driven trading system that enables item exchange and market activity between players.

The open beta follows a recent closed beta and is limited to certain regions. EXP UP Company Limited has posted pre-registration details on the official site and said it will provide further updates about region availability, rollout timing and planned content as the beta approaches.
