Deltarune Chapter 5 ‘Festival Day’ released free

Deltarune Chapter 5, subtitled Festival Day, arrived on June 24, 2026 as a free update for owners of the paid game on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Creator Toby Fox confirmed the release at 11:00 AM EDT. The update was distributed through standard platform updates, so existing owners received the content with no additional purchase.

The chapter continues directly from Chapter 4. It follows Kris, Susie and Ralsei as they attend a festival that earlier chapters had foreshadowed. Fox described the episode in his release newsletter as “one more fun adventure before the sun ‘goes down completely,'” and the chapter features a lighter tone than its predecessor. Castle Town returns as an accessible hub, and the Weird Route carries on for players following that path.

Much of the action is set in a new Dark World created inside Flower King, Asgore’s flower shop. The chapter introduces a new antagonist named Flowery and adds a bonus boss called Pink, which completes the set of Shadow Crystal bosses that have appeared across the series.

Fox included development notes in the same newsletter. He wrote that Chapter 6 is “easier to build than previous chapters,” that work is progressing quickly, and that some team members may begin work on Chapter 7 before the end of 2026. Those remarks were presented in the context of the schedule for the remaining two installments of the planned seven-part arc.

Deltarune began as an episodic project by Toby Fox, with multiple chapters released over several years. The paid-version model continues, offering free chapter updates to existing owners while expanding the game’s narrative threads, recurring boss encounters and playable locations.
