Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra will adopt third‑person camera
Bandai Namco will overhaul Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra with a closer third-person camera, simplified roles, redesigned rules, maps and character systems, planned for late 2026.
Bandai Namco announced a major overhaul for Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra that will move the game from a top-down view to a closer third-person camera and redesign core gameplay systems. The company published details in a Developer Letter after the title reached its first anniversary and following the SQUADRA Talk Season 7 announcement.
The developer wrote that the changes follow a review of player feedback and match experience. The review found that the game’s strategic depth and knowledge-heavy mechanics created a gap between veteran players and newcomers. The planned redesign is intended to make the game easier to learn while retaining competitive depth for experienced players.
One of the largest changes is the camera perspective. Bandai Namco will replace the top-down view with a camera that stays closer to characters and action, moving toward an over‑the‑shoulder third‑person perspective. Visual presentation will be updated alongside the camera change so effects and character customization are clearer during combat.
Gameplay rules and maps will be reworked to simplify match flow and place greater emphasis on action. The developer described the current rule set as difficult for many players to grasp and said the new rules and map designs will aim for more straightforward, fast-paced battles consistent with team fights in Dragon Ball.
The role system will be simplified so players have more freedom to use preferred fighters without strict role constraints. Customization options will be expanded and adjusted so they are more noticeable in matches. Bandai Namco is also reviewing character acquisition and related systems to reduce confusion for new players and to preserve long-term progression for continuing players.
Bandai Namco said the overhaul will go live after the game’s first anniversary campaign, with a target window toward the end of 2026. When the update launches, the current ruleset will be removed. The team is examining how items and rewards earned under the existing systems will be handled during the transition.
The Developer Letter thanked players for their support since launch and positioned the update as a change of direction rather than a standard content drop. Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra launched as a mobile team-battle game designed to deliver Dragon Ball-style fights on the go, and the title will move to the new ruleset once the overhaul is implemented.
