Dragon Quest: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon Classic HD on mobile

Square Enix has released Dragon Quest: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon Classic HD for Android and iOS in Japan as a premium paid app. The mobile launch brings the HD remaster of the 1993 roguelike to handheld devices in the Japanese market.
The game casts players as Torneko, a weapons merchant who appears after the events of Dragon Quest IV and enters a shifting dungeon to recover a legendary treasure. Each expedition starts at Level 1; players must defeat enemies, gather equipment and manage items to progress.
Dungeon layouts, enemy placements and item drops are procedurally generated, so each run differs. Movement and combat follow turn-based rules in which every player action allows enemies to act. Defeat on an expedition causes players to lose items collected during that run. Returning with recovered goods lets Torneko expand his shop, providing persistent progress between runs.
The mobile release includes adjustable difficulty settings and preserves the game’s classic visual style with HD upgrades. The app is listed as a premium purchase on Google Play and the App Store in Japan.
The title is an HD master of the first Mystery Dungeon entry, originally released in 1993 and serving as a prequel to Torneko: The Last Hope. The remaster was previously released on PC and consoles; the mobile launch makes the game available on Japanese mobile platforms.
