eFootball 2027 v6 Adds Overload Playstyle, Dual Formations

KONAMI will release eFootball 2027 v6.0 in August 2026 with an Overload playstyle, separate attacking and defending formations, Custom Tournaments and expanded Link‑Up Play.

KONAMI announced details for eFootball 2027 version 6.0 during an eFootball CONNECT segment at the World Festival livestream. The developer set the update for August 2026, with maintenance expected to begin around August 13 when current events end and the new season to follow a few days later. The update introduces a new Overload playstyle, separate attacking and defending formations, a Custom Tournament mode and expanded Link‑Up Play options.

The Custom Tournament feature allows players to create and join community competitions, set custom rules and match settings, and organise matches for friends and groups. KONAMI presented the feature as part of a “Play On All Together” concept aimed at supporting user-run tournaments and community play.

The Overload playstyle is designed to create numerical advantages around the ball. When attacking, more players move toward the ball carrier to enable shorter passing sequences and sustained possession. Defensively, teams hold compact shapes and close down opponents faster. KONAMI described the behaviour as an option for more aggressive pressing compared with existing tactics such as Quick Counter. New managers with higher proficiency in the Overload style will be added with the update.

Version 6.0 adds the ability to set separate formations for possession and non‑possession phases. Players can choose one formation to apply while their team is attacking and a different formation while defending. The change allows adjustments such as pushing fullbacks higher during attack or dropping wingers and a defensive midfielder deeper when out of possession. KONAMI said the feature will affect substitution strategy and the use of position trainers.

The Link‑Up Play system will expand so some managers offer two Link‑Up Plays. KONAMI has not confirmed whether players can assign different Link‑Up Plays to their attacking and defending formations. The change may affect the tactical value of managers who provide multiple Link‑Up options.

Gameplay adjustments include a new shot mechanic called Stunning Shots, which enables volley shots from mid‑air, and a redesign of the Daily Game feature into Daily Super Play with refreshed daily tasks. KONAMI described the season update as focused on deeper tactics, tournament play and new match options. Further information will be provided in another eFootball CONNECT episode before the August launch.
