Epic Games Store free games this week: Luto and Echo Generation
Epic Games Store is offering two free games – psychological horror Luto and 1990s-set mystery Echo Generation – free to claim July 16-23.
Epic Games Store is offering two free games this week: Luto, a first-person psychological horror, and Echo Generation, a 1990s-set mystery. Both titles are available to claim from Thursday, July 16 through Thursday, July 23. The promotion runs on the Epic Games Store digital storefront and via the Epic client, beginning at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. BST / 5 p.m. CEST. Games added during the promotional window remain in a user’s library permanently.
Luto presents a confined, first-person experience built around themes of dreams, secrets, love, loss and regret. Players control a character who cannot leave their home and must explore a shifting, enclosed environment with maze-like paths and hidden areas. The game pairs tense environmental design with a high-pitched soundtrack and narrated passages intended to create a sustained feeling of unease.
Echo Generation, released in 2021, is set in a small town in the 1990s and uses a colorful voxel art style. Players take the role of a child exploring the town with a sister and a dog while investigating local mysteries and searching for the character’s missing father. Combat is turn-based and includes short button-driven mini-games and skill meters that require active input during fights. Enemies range from human adversaries to mechs and large creatures.
Epic runs weekly promotions that typically feature at least one free title and often rotate two games on Thursdays. Users can claim the free games through the Epic Games Store client or the store website during the promotional window; claimed titles are added automatically to the user’s library and remain available after the giveaway ends.
