Epic offers Shogun Showdown and Mindcop free Sept. 17–24

Epic Games Store is offering two free PC games-Shogun Showdown and Mindcop-for a limited period. The titles can be claimed at no cost through the Epic Games Store client or website from Thursday, Sept. 17 to Thursday, Sept. 24, and remain in a user’s Epic library after claiming.

Shogun Showdown, developed by Roboatino, is a turn-based strategic roguelike that combines deckbuilding and positional combat. Combat occurs on a single line where players move left and right to place tiles that determine attacks and abilities. Progression is run-based: players chain combos, upgrade ability tiles between runs and unlock additional characters and attacks. The game features pixel art and an original soundtrack, and holds a 97% positive rating on Steam based on user reviews.

Mindcop, developed by Andre Gareis, is a noir-styled surreal detective game set in the village of Merrylin Crater Camp. Players have five in-game days to identify a murderer, and most actions advance the game clock. Investigation relies on a single match-three puzzle used to access characters’ “Sea of Thoughts,” a mechanic for revealing memories and leads. Narrative choices and the time limit can produce different outcomes across multiple playthroughs.

Both games are available to claim beginning Thursday, Sept. 17 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. BST / 5 p.m. CEST and remain free to claim until Thursday, Sept. 24 at the same times. Claims must be made during that window through the Epic Games Store client or website; after claiming, no further payment is required to keep the titles.

Epic runs a weekly giveaway that rotates free PC titles each Thursday.
