Esports Nations Cup pushed to Nov. 2027 amid regional uncertainty

The Esports Foundation postponed the inaugural Esports Nations Cup from Nov. 2026 in Riyadh to Nov. 2027, citing regional uncertainty; Development Fund and national programs will continue.

The Esports Foundation has postponed the inaugural Esports Nations Cup from November 2026 in Riyadh to November 2027. The foundation cited a review of the wider regional situation and consultations with international stakeholders as the basis for the decision. The later date is intended to provide national teams, game publishers, partners and fans greater certainty.

Existing commitments to the ENC Development Fund will remain in place, the foundation confirmed. Work on the fund, ecosystem programs, publisher partnerships and national esports initiatives will continue during the extended preparation period.

More than 100 countries and territories have already secured official partner status within the ENC ecosystem. The tournament is planned as a national-team, multi-title competition that will bring together top players, support national esports programs and provide a platform for international competition and national representation.

The foundation noted that Saudi Arabia’s capacity to host major events is not affected and that sporting and entertainment activities in the country will continue as planned. Organizers framed the postponement as a measure to allow stable planning and preparation for teams, publishers and partners.

In the coming weeks the Esports Foundation will work with National Team Partners, game publishers and other stakeholders to publish a revised competition schedule, outline an adjusted qualification process and detail any operational changes resulting from the postponement. Timelines for national selection and qualifiers are expected to be updated as part of that process.

In a statement, the Esports Foundation wrote: “The decision was made to provide national teams, game publishers, partners, and fans with greater certainty around the tournament.”

Background: The Esports Nations Cup is a national-team international esports tournament with a development fund to support participating nations. The event was first announced for November 2026 in Riyadh; organizers have moved the inaugural edition to November 2027 while maintaining existing partnerships and development commitments.
