EWC 2026 Dota 2 Playoffs: Favorites and Dark Horses

Eight teams will compete for a $2 million prize pool at the Esports World Cup 2026 Dota 2 playoffs, which begin July 16. Team Yandex and PVISION are favorites; Team Falcons and Team Spirit are dark horses.

Eight teams advanced to the Esports World Cup 2026 Dota 2 playoffs to contest a $2 million prize pool. The playoffs start July 16 in a single-elimination bracket with best-of-three matches through the semifinals and a best-of-five Grand Final. The event includes squads with recent strong results, teams recovering form after uneven seasons, and sides that qualified by outperforming expectations.

Team Yandex qualifies as a top contender after reaching five major international finals since December 2025 and winning three titles: DreamLeague Season 27, PGL Wallachia Season 7 and BLAST Slam VII. PVISION enters the bracket with three event wins in 2026 and recent tournament victories that position it among the favorites.

Team Falcons and Team Spirit are listed as dark horses. Falcons, the reigning International champion, has not reached a major international final in more than six months but retains veteran experience and long-standing roster chemistry. Team Spirit is the defending Esports World Cup 2025 champion; its results this season are mixed but its head-to-head record against Team Yandex favors Yandex, which has won the last five meetings between the two teams.

BB Team has shown high variation in results, with a major title at PGL Wallachia Season 8 and a weak run at ESL One Birmingham 2026. Nigma Galaxy topped its group but has had frequent roster changes and inconsistent results. Vici Gaming brings a long organizational history and solid domestic performances but limited recent international success. Rune Eaters reached the playoffs by defeating Virtus.pro and Aurora Gaming in the Survival Stage and entered the final eight as an overperforming qualifier.

Organizers and bookmakers published opening odds and scheduled first-round matchups. On July 16 Nigma Galaxy faces BB Team at 13:00 CET (BB Team favored at 1.38 to Nigma’s 2.80) and Team Falcons meets Vici Gaming at 16:30 CET (Falcons 1.12, Vici 5.30). On July 17 Team Yandex plays Team Spirit at 13:00 CET (Yandex 1.48, Spirit 2.50) and PVISION plays Rune Eaters at 16:30 CET (PVISION 1.06, Rune Eaters 7.00). All first-round matches are best-of-three.

The tournament winner will be crowned Esports World Cup 2026 Dota 2 champion and receive the largest share of the $2 million prize pool. Live match results and audience-tracking data are available through the event organizers’ platforms.
