Fallout Shelter hits 250M players; new Seasons and TV series
Fallout Shelter passed 250 million players; Bethesda plans new Seasons and an unscripted competition series with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films.
Bethesda announced in a studio update that Fallout Shelter has surpassed 250 million players worldwide and will receive new Seasons. The update did not include a release window or a detailed roadmap for those Seasons.
The studio confirmed an unscripted Fallout Shelter television series is in development with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films, with production involvement from Studio Lambert and Bethesda Game Studios. The project is planned as a 10-episode competition that places contestants inside Vault-Tec vaults to compete in survival-style challenges for a cash prize.
Bethesda said it will continue supporting Fallout Shelter alongside work on Fallout 76 and long-term development of Fallout 5. The studio also noted progress on The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield in the same update.
The mobile game experienced a resurgence after the 2024 live-action Fallout series premiered. Bethesda introduced TV-inspired characters, companions and themed quests, which Bethesda reported corresponded with a near tenfold rise in daily revenue. The new Seasons were announced following that player and revenue milestone.
Fallout Shelter launched as a mobile management game and has received regular updates and themed events since release. The unscripted series is a collaborative production that aims to adapt elements of the game for a televised competition format. Bethesda did not provide timing or further details for either the Seasons or the TV project.
