Floatopia launches closed beta in China on July 24, 2026

NetEase Games opens Floatopia’s first closed beta, the Bubbling Test, on July 24, 2026, for Android, iOS and PC players in China with full cross-platform support and a data wipe.

NetEase Games will launch the first closed beta for the life-simulation Floatopia, titled the Bubbling Test, on July 24, 2026, for Android, iOS and PC players in China. The test is limited-time and will wipe player data. It supports full cross-platform play between mobile and PC. Recruitment is open on the game’s official website.

The Bubbling Test invites players to try Floatopia’s core systems in a temporary environment where progress will not carry over. Applicants must complete the Test Recruitment questionnaire on the official site and provide contact details such as phone number and WeChat ID. Selected participants will be notified by SMS or email. NetEase described the test as a way to exercise cross-platform functionality and collect player feedback ahead of wider releases.

Floatopia places players on floating islands suspended above clouds. Gameplay centers on farming, fishing, crafting and social interaction. Players can grow crops called super crows, fish in a sea of clouds, mine ores and gather pigments, capture magical creatures and customize islands with buildings and furniture.

The game includes weather mechanics that let players purchase a sunny day from an in-world weather company and superpowers that allow users to reshape their floating home. Exploration covers fantasy biomes such as icy caves, star-filled skies and desert regions, each with distinct scenery and elements to uncover.

Social features are part of the experience. Players can chat with neighbors, react to posts, assist one another, host parties and participate in shared activities across islands. NetEase emphasized cross-play and testers will be able to move between mobile and PC clients during the test period.

Floatopia was first shown during gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live. NetEase has not disclosed the test length, the number of participants or plans for releases outside China.
