Fortnite’s Cuddles and Chaos update brings Sidekick games

Epic Games will release the Cuddles and Chaos Collection for Fortnite on Thursday, July 23, the developer announced in a trailer and posts on the game’s channels. The update centers on Sidekicks and offers new creature-based games inside Fortnite.

The trailer, posted to Fortnite’s YouTube channel and shared across social platforms, mixes live-action footage with in-game shots of Sidekicks such as Peels and Lil’ Lootie. The short film uses natural scenes and text-message style overlays; one message reads, “long day, how about some cuddles and chaos?”

Epic’s video description says players can expect “fierce Sidekick battles, wild adventures, and deep bonds await!” and refers to a “new collection of creature-based games where Sidekicks take center stage.” The developer has not detailed specific gameplay mechanics or the number of maps and mini-games included.

Conservationist and streamer Maya Higa appears in the trailer and will lead related activity on Twitch, according to Epic’s promotional posts. The trailer highlights interactions between Higa and the Sidekicks and signals a coordinated promotion that includes livestreams and in-game events timed with the release.

A known Fortnite leaker using the handle Shiina posted on X that the trailer is tied to UEFN, the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. UEFN is the studio-style editor Epic provides to create custom Fortnite experiences; content built with UEFN can be published as playable maps and modes within the game.

Epic has not confirmed whether the Cuddles and Chaos Collection will be free or paid, how progression will work, or what rewards players might earn. Additional details and any follow-up information are expected on Fortnite’s official channels and inside the game when the collection goes live on July 23.
