Fortnite adds characters from Nolan’s The Odyssey on July 17

Epic Games will add characters from Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey to Fortnite on July 17, timed with the movie’s theatrical release. Playable skins confirmed so far include Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, and Agamemnon, portrayed by Benny Safdie. Epic said the Odysseus skin will appear in the Item Shop on July 17 at 8 p.m. ET for players who do not earn it through limited tournaments.

Fortnite will run the Odyssey Cups across multiple regions on July 15 and 16. The tournaments include three playlists: Solo Battle Royale, Solo Zero Build and Mobile Reload. Players who place high enough on regional leaderboards will receive the Odysseus outfit before it appears in the Item Shop.

Players who do not qualify through the Cups can purchase the Odysseus outfit when it hits the Item Shop at the announced time. Epic has not announced a formal price. Collaboration skins in the past have commonly sold for about 1,500 V-Bucks, and release bundles sometimes include additional items such as back blings, pickaxes and emotes.

Epic released a short cinematic teaser showing Odysseus walking through a large chamber lined with giant statues. The studio said more content tied to the film may arrive in future updates but has not provided a schedule or list of additional items.

So far Epic has confirmed only Odysseus and Agamemnon as playable characters from the film. Community reports and leaks indicate Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway in the movie, may be added later, but Epic has not confirmed her or any other characters beyond the two announced.

The crossover offers both tournament-based early access and a standard Item Shop release, giving competitive players a path to receive the Odysseus skin before it goes on sale to the broader player base.
