Frontier to self-fund Disney-themed management game

Frontier Developments will self-fund and publish a Disney-based management simulation, the UK studio said. No release date, platforms or specific Disney property have been announced.

Frontier Developments, the UK studio behind Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster, will develop and publish a new management simulation using Disney intellectual property. The company will fund the project itself.

The studio framed the collaboration with Disney as part of its strategy to build and sustain management simulation franchises. Frontier did not provide a development timeline.

Frontier said the game will draw on Disney’s wider portfolio of characters and settings, but it did not identify which Disney property will be featured. The company also did not name any platforms for the release.

The studio pointed to its experience in creative management sims — including Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and the Jurassic World Evolution series — as relevant to the new project.

Frontier confirmed it is also working on a separate, unannounced Planet game for its existing series.

Jo Cooke, Frontier’s CEO, commented: “We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises. Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”

The studio has emphasized community-facing features in past releases, such as creative tools and shared content systems, and expects the Disney title to make use of those systems.

Beyond confirming the partnership and its studio-funded approach, Frontier provided no further technical details, platforms, release window or gameplay specifics.
