Gamescom ONL 2026 confirmed dates and updates for announced games
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 confirmed release dates and new trailers for announced titles, led by The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past and a free Remastered upgrade on Sept. 29, 2026.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 delivered release dates, extended gameplay footage and technical updates for a slate of previously announced games. The show highlighted a new Witcher expansion and a free Remaster for existing owners, alongside firm launch dates for several major releases.
CD Projekt Red showed the first in-game footage of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past, an expansion that sends Geralt to a new region called Letten. Songs of the Past is scheduled for 2027. The publisher also announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered as a free upgrade for current owners. The Remastered edition updates visuals and lighting, adjusts combat and traversal, refines monster behavior and revises the skill systems. It will arrive on September 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and for the first time the game will have a native version on Nintendo Switch 2. Existing owners will receive the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLCs at no extra cost.
Square Enix provided a weapons gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation and set a spring 2027 release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox Game Studios confirmed Gears of War: E-Day for October 6, 2026 as an Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive, available day one on Xbox Game Pass; the cinematic trailer introduced younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. Remedy Entertainment reconfirmed Control Resonant for September 24, 2026 and showed extended footage of reality-warping environments and weapon shapeshifting. 4A Games reconfirmed Metro 2039 for February 2027 and presented survival mechanics for a new protagonist named The Stranger. Grinding Gear Games set Path of Exile 2’s full 1.0 release for December 11, 2026 following early access.
Other confirmed dates included Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on August 27, 2026; Mewgenics consoles on September 8, 2026; Rayman Legends Retold on October 1, 2026; Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 released August 25, 2026 with a Nintendo Switch 2 version due September 29, 2026; and Aion 2 on October 5, 2026.
Several projects received new footage without fixed release windows. Naked Rain’s Ananta, previously known as Project Mugen, set a January 15, 2027 launch and showed new cityscapes, companions and urban traversal. Eclipse Glow Games released a story trailer for Tides of Annihilation and announced a recast for protagonist Gwendolyn. Screen Burn Interactive presented a gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall focused on atmospheric horror in a fog-shrouded coastal town. Team17 revealed Worms: Galactic Tactics, a turn-based tactics spinoff, and said a traditional Worms project is in development.
Some updates were available immediately. Pearl Abyss pushed a free Enhanced update for Crimson Desert that is live now, adding story content, additional language options and a temporary 20% discount. Panache Digital Games showed new footage of 1666: Amsterdam, which is available in Early Access. Several trailers highlighted planned launches on next-generation hardware, including Nintendo Switch 2 versions for multiple titles.
Opening Night Live emphasized release timing, platform availability and extended gameplay for titles already announced, giving players specific dates and video previews for many upcoming releases.
