Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026: Confirmed Games and Rumors

Gamescom Opening Night Live on Aug. 25 will feature confirmed showcases including The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past and Silent Hill: Townfall; rumors include Alien Isolation 2 and Fable.

Gamescom’s Opening Night Live will air on Aug. 25 from the Cologne show floor and is scheduled to run about two hours. Organizers have confirmed a slate of titles that will be featured during the broadcast and at the event.

Headlining the confirmed list is The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, an expansion described by organizers as linking events between The Witcher 3 and the upcoming The Witcher 4. Other confirmed entries set for the show include Silent Hill: Townfall, Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, Metro 2039, Tides of Annihilation, Gears of War: E-Day, Path of Exile 2 and Monster Hunter Outlanders, along with several indie and AAA projects.

Several high-profile rumors have circulated in the run-up to the show. Alien Isolation 2, revealed earlier this year, will have a playable prologue on the Gamescom show floor, which could coincide with an on-stage trailer or extended gameplay segment during the broadcast. Fable, postponed into 2027, is another title mentioned by insiders as a possible appearance to show new gameplay following its delay.

Reports link Xbox to a franchise revival being developed by third-party studios; sources indicate the project is not Halo, Forza or Banjo-Kazooie. Other leaks and industry chatter have pointed to Worms Galactic Tactics, described as a turn-based strategy entry with mechanics similar to XCOM, and to a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, with Hogwarts Legacy 2 named as a candidate for an official reveal if timing allows.

The Tomb Raider franchise appears in the rumor stream as well, with a title referred to as Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis associated with a possible February release window. Another project, codenamed Catalyst, is reported to have been pushed toward 2028.

Beyond those names, additional titles have appeared in rumors around the event, including potential expansions, platform release dates and remakes. The two-hour program is expected to combine trailers, gameplay drops and world premieres, leaving time for both planned presentations and unannounced reveals.

Publishers and developers will also bring playable demos and hands-on stations to the Gamescom show floor. The combination of scheduled showcases, playable content and ongoing industry reports means the Aug. 25 broadcast will be a focal point for announcements ahead of the fall release season. Viewers and reporters will follow the event for scheduled segments and any last-minute additions.
