An anonymous fan who pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto 6 says he has a progressive eye condition and is racing to play the game while he still has usable vision. He received a diagnosis earlier this year that predicts significant vision loss within months and is arranging time off work and scheduling short play sessions to prioritize visual moments.

Family members and online friends have tested settings to improve clarity, including increased contrast and larger text, bigger displays, higher-fidelity audio and third-party magnifiers and screen readers. Supporters offered to stream gameplay or describe scenes in real time so he can focus on the visual elements he wants to see and request specific captures.

Developers and player groups have added accessibility options in recent years, such as scalable interfaces, high-contrast modes and enhanced audio cues. The fan and his network are monitoring official accessibility features and third-party tools that could make more of the game usable as his vision changes.

He used email newsletters and independent coverage to track release windows, guides and practical tips for preparing for the launch. Those updates helped him plan leave from work and coordinate friends to capture and record scenes he considers important.

“I want to see the places and faces while I can,” he said. He added that experiencing a major title from a series he has followed throughout his life mattered personally.
