GTA 6 locked content: what players can access

GTA 6 includes locked items and features. Core single-player content is playable while missions, online modes and some cosmetics remain gated by progression, purchases or future updates.

GTA 6 ships with a mix of available and locked in-game content. The core single-player campaign, many shops, radio stations and a large selection of vehicles and weapons are playable at launch. Other missions, areas, cosmetic items and equipment are restricted until players meet progression requirements, buy paid content, or wait for future updates. Players and data miners have found assets in game files or visible in menus that cannot be used in normal play.

Rockstar implemented progression gates that block access to certain missions, locations and gear until specific story points or in-game ranks are reached. Online features run on the publisher’s servers and require account sign-in; players who play offline or without validation will see online-only missions, time-limited events and event rewards unavailable. Platform-specific pre-order and console-exclusive items remain tied to the platforms named in the offers.

Post-launch content, seasonal updates and paid expansions add further locked items. Some weapons, outfits, vehicles and customization options are scheduled for later release or tied to purchasable packs or battle-pass systems. Cosmetic items sometimes appear in menus with a padlock icon, indicating they will arrive in a future update or must be purchased through the in-game store. Unused vehicles and interiors found in game files are often placeholders or developer-only assets.

External promotions and fan-run offers sometimes advertise in-game rewards such as a 500 MK bonus for an in-game vendor called ‘The Bookie’. These offers are not official and require verification through the game’s account pages and publisher announcements before attempting redemption.

Technical restrictions affect access as well. Server-side gating can keep event modes and multiplayer missions disabled for players on older game versions until they update. Console certification and platform-holder processes can delay patch and DLC rollouts, creating temporary differences between systems. Modding tools and developer debug features are not provided to the public, so assets revealed by data-mining are not generally accessible.

Rockstar has not published a single list of locked versus available items. Players should use mission journals, padlock icons in menus, the in-game store and official patch notes to track what is usable. Patch notes and update logs list restored features and new items when developers change access.
