GTA 6 Pre-Orders Exceed FIFA and Call of Duty Combined

Records show GTA 6 pre-orders exceed the combined pre-orders for FIFA and Call of Duty across retail and digital channels ahead of its release.

Data compiled from retail and digital sales ahead of the game’s release shows Grand Theft Auto 6 has more pre-orders than the combined totals for the FIFA and Call of Duty franchises.

The tally covers both physical and digital bookings collected after official marketing and release-window announcements for GTA 6. Early sales figures for the title are higher than those recorded so far for the latest FIFA and Call of Duty releases.

Rockstar Games develops the Grand Theft Auto series and Take-Two Interactive owns the franchise. FIFA titles are published by Electronic Arts and Call of Duty titles by Activision. Retailers and digital storefronts commonly use pre-order numbers as an early gauge of consumer demand; the new data indicate a larger number of confirmed purchases for GTA 6 during the pre-order period.

Analysts and market watchers have previously pointed to the long interval since the last mainline Grand Theft Auto release in 2013 and to extensive marketing tied to GTA 6 as factors that could increase pre-order activity. Pre-order campaigns for all three franchises typically include special editions, in-game bonuses and retailer exclusives that can affect where and when consumers place orders.

There was no immediate comment from Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive in response to the pre-order records. Representatives for Electronic Arts and Activision did not provide statements about the comparative figures.

Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, set a high benchmark for video-game sales and continued selling across console generations. FIFA and Call of Duty maintain large annual audiences with seasonal peaks around new releases. The available pre-order data show GTA 6 has attracted a higher volume of advance purchases than the two series combined during the current pre-order window.
