Helldivers 2 doubles level cap to 300, keeps extra XP

Arrowhead confirmed Helldivers 2 will raise the player level cap from 150 to 300. XP earned past 150 has been queued and will convert to new ranks when the update arrives.

Arrowhead Studios will raise the player level cap in Helldivers 2 from 150 to 300 in a future update. The studio confirmed that experience points earned beyond level 150 have been saved and will be recalculated into the expanded progression system when the update goes live.

The change is part of a broader progression revamp aimed at giving long-term players additional ranks, titles and vanity rewards. Levels in Helldivers 2 differ from weapon unlocks and Stratagems: after most early-game unlocks are complete, higher levels serve as a prestige track that reflects playtime and commitment rather than new gameplay unlocks.

Arrowhead said the game has been queuing extra XP behind the scenes for players who continued playing after reaching the 150 cap. When the cap increases, each player’s total XP will be converted and applied to the new 300-level scale so veteran players receive the ranks and cosmetic items that match their accumulated experience. Players who have not reached level 150 will have their current progression carry forward normally under the extended cap.

The studio compared the recalculation to the earlier cap increase from 50 to 150. At that time, players who had continued to earn XP past the old limit saw immediate rank promotions when they next logged in.

Alongside the level cap expansion, Arrowhead is adding Galactic War Campaigns and Personal Campaign Progression tracks as additional long-term objectives that sit alongside existing Major Orders and ongoing events. Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, where the updated progression will be applied when released.
