Home gets anniversary update and free mobile release
Home’s 14th-anniversary update is available on iOS and Android, while the pixel-art horror game is free on the Epic Games Store for mobile through Oct. 29.
Home has received a 14th-anniversary update for iOS and Android and has launched on the mobile version of the Epic Games Store for the first time. The game is free there from Oct. 22 through Oct. 29.
Created by Benjamin Rivers, Home opens with the player waking up during a storm in a dark house they do not recognize. A murder has taken place, and the player must investigate the house to determine what happened and who was responsible.
The story changes based on how players interpret the evidence. The game does not give every player the same explanation for the mystery, allowing the ending to reflect their choices and conclusions. Home has no combat and does not use a traditional inventory system.
The anniversary update adds Postmortem Mode, which was previously available on the Nintendo Switch version. The mode includes developer commentary that changes based on the player’s decisions. The update also adds a behind-the-scenes gallery, improved controller support and performance of up to 60 frames per second.
Home launched on PC in 2012 and came to iPad in 2013. It is now available through the Epic Games Store on mobile, with the free offer ending Oct. 29.
