Butterscotch Shenanigans has released How Many Dudes?, a roguelike dudebuilder available on Android, iOS and PC for a one-time price of $9.99. The studio revealed the title in May and opened pre-registrations before the launch on major app stores and PC storefronts.
The game combines autobattler mechanics with roguelike progression. Players run a “Dude Ranch,” recruiting 42 unique characters sorted into six Dude Families, including Undead and Employed Dudes. Each playthrough requires assembling a squad and progressing through encounters that grow tougher with each stage.
Combat outcomes depend on combinations of Dude Types and hundreds of collectible relics and trinkets. The developer states there are more than 850,000 possible team compositions. Relics can alter unit behavior-examples include Wizard Dudes firing waves of fireballs when they move and Zombie Dudes exploding when hit. Trinkets are awarded for defeating Act Bosses and further modify specific Dude Types.
Enemies range from low-level foes such as toddlers and wolves to larger threats like gorillas and deity-class bosses. The game includes multiple difficulty tiers, several game modes and Wandering Dude events that introduce extra challenges and player choices during runs.
Butterscotch Shenanigans, the studio behind the Crashlands series, built the title around short, chaotic runs where relics and synergies can change tactics mid-run. Developers implemented dozens of relic and trinket effects intended to enable a wide range of strategies and interactions.
How Many Dudes? is available now on Google Play, the App Store and PC distribution services for $9.99.
