Hytale founder to detail Chapter 1 after quiet period
Simon Collins-Laflamme will publish a blog within a week outlining Chapter 1 development and work-in-progress content, saying asking players to ‘run on faith for months’ isn’t ideal.
Simon Collins-Laflamme, founder of Hypixel, said a blog post detailing Chapter 1 development will appear within about a week. The announcement follows six months since Hytale’s return under Collins-Laflamme and growing player interest in the game’s first major early access update.
In a post on X, Collins-Laflamme explained the studio’s original plan was to keep all Chapter 1 content hidden until launch so players would encounter it as a single surprise. He wrote that while he still values that approach for impact, the team now sees a downside: with only weekly patches and foundation work visible, players can reasonably wonder whether new content is being developed.
The founder wrote that the internal challenge is not a shortage of work but tracking many production elements at once. The studio has avoided shipping major content updates early because it does not want to push sales before the game can make the first impression it intends. Collins-Laflamme acknowledged that decision has left some players unsure and promised clearer communication.
The upcoming post will explain what is currently in development for Chapter 1 and include work-in-progress peeks. It will focus on explanations and progress rather than final visuals, so the team can keep most launch surprises intact. Collins-Laflamme added that several items in production are not chapter content and that a few will merit separate posts or mini showcases later on.
He wrote, ‘Asking everyone to run on faith for months isn’t great.’ He also wrote, ‘But actions speak louder than words.’ Hypixel Community Manager BuddhaCat reacted to an early draft of the post with, ‘Damn, this is a big boi.’
Hytale entered early access after Collins-Laflamme revived the project and has received regular technical patches since release. The studio said the forthcoming blog aims to give players a clearer view of development timelines and the types of content they can expect ahead of the Chapter 1 launch.
