IEM Cologne Major 2026 breaks Counter-Strike viewership record
IEM Cologne Major 2026 reached more than 76.2 million hours watched on June 19, 2026, the highest for a Counter-Strike event before the Grand Finals.
IEM Cologne Major 2026 reached more than 76.2 million hours watched on June 19, 2026, making it the most-watched Counter-Strike event to date before the Grand Finals. The total was recorded by an independent viewership tracker and will increase as the tournament continues.
The Cologne total surpassed the previous high recorded at the Austin Major 2025, which logged roughly 76.13 million hours watched. The current all-time ranking by hours watched places Cologne first at about 76.2 million, Austin 2025 second at 76,130,773, Budapest 2025 third at 71,315,108, Stockholm 2021 fourth at 71,266,120, and Rio 2022 fifth at 69,517,244.
Organizers implemented format changes that affected broadcast length. Stage 3 matches at Cologne were played as best-of-three for the first time in Counter-Strike history, producing more rounds and longer match durations. The Major retained an expanded field and a format of three consecutive 16-team Swiss stages, which added more scheduled matches compared with older formats.
Regional broadcasts contributed to the increase in total hours watched. Russian-language streams exceeded their Austin Major totals, and Spanish-language coverage reached a new peak for Counter-Strike esports. Viewership from Brazilian Portuguese and Hispanic markets showed strong engagement, and teams with large Turkish followings maintained interest among secondary regional audiences. The playoff bracket kept several teams with wide international followings, concentrating viewers across multiple language feeds.
The published figures exclude streams on Chinese platforms and Steam TV and therefore do not reflect those audiences. Viewership tracking will continue through the final matches, and official tournament pages will publish finalized totals and further milestones after the event concludes.
