July 2026 Mobile Gaming: Releases, Shutdowns, Controversies
July 2026 saw major mobile launches and regional betas, several service shutdowns announced, and content and regulatory controversies in China and Brazil.
July 2026 produced a heavy schedule of mobile releases, regional tests and service changes that affected publishers and players worldwide. Notable full releases included hololive Dreams on July 23 and CookieRun: Crumble on July 30.
Several other titles reached mobile platforms in July. Tiny Bookshop released on July 9. METAL SLUG RUSH, DIGIMON UP, Runeborn and GT Rivals: Real Racing Sim became available, and Titanite: Mecha Survival Game launched on Android in Southeast Asia. Two Harvest Moon classics, The Lost Valley and Skytree Village, moved to mobile late in the month. Netflix Minigolf arrived as an exclusive on the Netflix Games platform. Additional launches included Highway Heroes, POINPY, Hypnospace Outlaw, Barda Backpack Roguelike and Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire.
Testing and staged rollouts continued to be common. ChillyRoom opened an Abyssal Soul open beta on Android. BLEACH Mirrors High and Floatopia ran closed beta recruitment, with Floatopia starting tests in China on July 24. Monster Hunter Outlanders announced a third closed beta beginning August 7. GRAVITY’s Requiem M and Project Origin: X entered soft launch in South Korea. Ragnarok: The New World and Tianlong Origin began limited regional tests. Pre-registration campaigns launched for Titan Revenge, Alphadia F, Skeleton Knight in Another World SKULL BRAVE, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble and Langrisser: Sea of Sword.
Several live-service closures and end-of-life dates were announced. FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS is scheduled to close on October 6, 2026. Mario Kart Tour will end service on September 29, 2026. Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem will shut down on October 15, 2026. Bungo Stray Dogs: Tales of the Lost ended service on July 31, 2026. FINAL FANTASY XIV MOBILE will stop service in China on September 30, 2026. Jump+ Jumble Rush confirmed a shutdown in Japan on September 17, 2026. STARSEED: Asnia Trigger ended its content roadmap while keeping servers online.
Content and regulatory controversies drew attention during the month. Love and Deepspace removed a character named Valko after complaints and political sensitivity in China. Pokémon GO restricted sales of certain shop items in Brazil following a legal ruling on loot boxes. Arknights Endfield apologized for a pinch-gesture feature that led to player backlash. Pokémon UNITE will not be included in the 2027 esports circuit.
Industry events and related announcements took place as well. Hypergryph scheduled Hypergryph FES 2026 for Shanghai from July 30 to August 2. Wuthering Waves announced a concert tour with a Los Angeles stop on October 17 and revealed the Wuthering Waves: Elysium animated series. Free Fire Daybreak received an anime adaptation slated for spring 2027.
