July remakes bring Black Flag, Halo, Palworld and Moss

In July 2026 publishers released remakes and major updates: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Palworld 1.0 and Moss: The Forgotten Relic.

In July 2026 several publishers released remakes and large updates that revisit games from the past two decades. The month’s notable releases include Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Palworld reaching 1.0 and Moss: The Forgotten Relic.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a ground-up remake built in the Anvil engine used for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. According to Ubisoft, the remake adds more than six hours of new content, including quests focused on Blackbeard and three additional ship captains. The release removes the modern-day sequences to concentrate on Edward Kenway’s pirate story and revises the visuals with brighter seas, clearer beaches and denser island foliage.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign. The release concentrates on single-player narrative and shooting mechanics and does not include the franchise’s multiplayer modes. Developers added several new missions to the campaign and updated weapon models and visual presentation to match modern hardware and design standards.

Palworld reached its full 1.0 release in July after an early access period that began in January 2024. The 1.0 update introduces a World Tree endgame zone, Sky Islands, more than 25 additional creature companions called Pals, a dedicated player-versus-player mode and a breeding system intended to combine traits across Pals. The developer described the update as extending beyond bug fixes and balance changes to present a full version of the game.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic adapts the Moss series’ VR platforming and puzzle design into a non-VR format. The reimagining removes the need for a headset and translates the franchise’s third-person, puzzle-platform gameplay for traditional controllers and screens. Story elements and character-focused presentation from the VR entries are retained in the new format.

Publishers scheduled these releases in July ahead of larger releases planned later in the year. Background: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was first released in October 2013. Halo: Combat Evolved originally launched in 2001. Palworld entered early access in January 2024. The Moss series began as a virtual reality title noted for its storybook presentation.
