Langrisser: Sea of Sword lets you field two heroes
Langrisser: Sea of Sword lets players field two heroes and two troop types, switch between them during combat, includes destructible environments and puzzles, and will release on PC and mobile.
Black Jack Studio and HongKong GameTree announced Langrisser: Sea of Sword and published a Steam page and trailer detailing the next entry in the tactical RPG series. The game allows players to field two heroes and two troop types and to switch between those heroes instantly during combat.
Each battle centers on a pair of heroes rather than a single commander. Players can swap between the two heroes on the fly, changing available tactics and leveraging different troop types for distinct battlefield roles. Certain hero pairings trigger Hero Unity Skills, cooperative abilities that depend on which characters are paired.
The developers highlight destructible environments as a tactical feature. Players can breach outer walls to create new access points, cut down bridges to block or damage advancing enemies, and use terrain and structures to alter enemy movement. These interactions are intended to enable alternative approaches to objectives rather than relying solely on set routes.
Outside combat, the game adds environmental puzzles to break up battles and encourage exploration. The Steam description calls the title an “evolution” for the series and indicates a move away from the series’ traditionally linear progression toward more freedom and multi-path level design.
The Steam page and trailer are the primary sources for these details. The developers list the game for PC via Steam and for iOS and Android. No release date has been announced.
Langrisser is a long-running tactical RPG series that previously focused on a single hero commanding forces and on linear story progression. Sea of Sword changes that approach by emphasizing paired-hero tactics, interactive environments and exploratory elements. Further information about the story, playable characters and launch timing is expected in future announcements.
