Leaked free-to-play Witcher co-op RPG reportedly in development

Sources say a free-to-play co-op Witcher action RPG set in 1230 will let players create custom Witchers and is in development for PC and mobile; it may be separate from Project Sirius.
Sources familiar with the project report that an untitled, free-to-play co-op action RPG set in the year 1230 is in development for PC and mobile. The game would let players create custom Witchers rather than play as Geralt, according to people briefed on the project.
Those people describe character creation options including gender and appearance. Players would accept contracts to hunt monsters across familiar Continent biomes, rather than follow Geralt’s personal story.
The reported combat system is skill-driven. Players would choose abilities from different Witcher schools, use Signs and brew potions to shape loadouts. The design is described as rewarding well-timed blocks, dodges, parries and executions, with an emphasis on timing and control over fast-paced, indiscriminate attacks.
The project is targeted at both PC and mobile platforms and is planned as a cooperative multiplayer experience, according to the same sources.
People briefed on the project say it may be separate from Project Sirius. Project Sirius was first revealed in 2022 with both single-player and multiplayer elements, underwent a reboot in 2023 and saw its original developer absorbed into the parent company. The studio has also been discussing mobile development partnerships with an outside publisher.
CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski commented, “things are happening… it’s definitely not a story for 2026.”
Observers familiar with ARPG design note that mobile development could affect presentation and controls. Sources expect a simplified touch layout for movement, basic attacks, Sign use, potion application, dodge and block. The team has not confirmed whether the game will use a top-down isometric view or a third-person perspective that prioritizes parry and block readability.
The reported leak coincides with other Witcher franchise activity. CD Projekt Red previously released spin-off titles including Thronebreaker and Gwent across multiple platforms and has announced The Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past for 2027. Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Witcher game.
CD Projekt Red has not confirmed the leaked details or provided a timeline for the new multiplayer project. Sources expect additional information to emerge in the coming months as the studio finalizes platform and partner arrangements.
