LoL patch 26.14 adds opt-in parental controls
League of Legends patch 26.14 introduces opt-in parental controls letting guardians view and edit friend lists, toggle chat, see adult accounts that messaged a child, and set purchase and PC playtime limits.
Riot Games began rolling out opt-in parental controls in League of Legends with the release of patch 26.14. The features are optional and available to guardians who choose to enable them.
The controls let guardians view and edit a child’s friend list, block incoming friend requests and turn on or off in-game text and voice chat. A guardian can access a list of accounts aged 18 or older that messaged the child in the previous 30 days.
The suite includes purchase limits and PC playtime limits. Purchase limits apply only to transactions made through Riot’s own platforms; purchases made through third-party storefronts such as the App Store or console stores must be managed through those platforms. Playtime limits govern play on PC only and will not automatically apply to consoles or mobile devices.
Additional options cover game access and settings that control how data linked to a child’s account is used across Riot services.
Riot described the tools as intended to “give parents more visibility and control over their child’s social interactions in game.” The company said the features “provide parents with the tools to protect their child’s safety.” Riot has not published a detailed global rollout schedule beyond the patch window and did not announce further parental features at this time.
