Major9 acquires Outerplane IP and development team
Major9 has acquired the Outerplane intellectual property and its development team from VAGames. VAGames will remain independent; the firms announced the transfer aims to speed development and global expansion.
Major9 has acquired the Outerplane intellectual property and the team that develops the game from VAGames, the companies announced. VAGames will continue to operate as an independent company under its existing corporate structure; only the IP and development personnel are moving to Major9.
The firms began working together after signing a global publishing agreement in September 2025. That arrangement covered development cooperation and distribution, and the companies said the transfer formalizes closer operational alignment between development and publishing.
Outerplane is a turn-based role-playing game built around 3D animations, side stories and character-driven scenarios. Ahead of its third anniversary, pre-registrations for anniversary events surpassed 300,000. During that period the game reached the top position on Google Play’s Popular Games chart in Taiwan and in Korea, and it ranked among the top 10 in Japan. The title is available on the App Store and Google Play.
Major9 and VAGames stated the transfer will allow faster content updates, expanded global events and more frequent improvements to game systems. The companies also indicated the arrangement will support a broader release strategy and streamlined feature rollouts.
Details about the financial terms of the acquisition, staffing changes beyond the development team, and specific timing for planned updates were not disclosed.
