Mobile gaming: June 2026 releases, rulings and shutdowns
June 2026 saw dozens of mobile game launches and pre-registrations, a defamation ruling for HoYoverse, several scheduled shutdowns and multiple major IP and port announcements.
June 2026 delivered a heavy slate of mobile launches, pre-registrations and soft launches while the industry registered legal, operational and IP developments. Notable releases included Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, Dragonfall Kingdom, Soul Land: Awakening World, Gungrave G.O.R.E. UEE Mobile on Android and Star Blaster Offline Roguelike. Pokémon Champions opened global pre-registration ahead of its June 17 launch. CookieRun Classic and Guild Wars Reforged returned to mobile, and Inazuma Eleven: Cross launched in Japan on June 9. Netflix Games released FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition on June 11. Soft launches and regional rollouts continued for titles such as Astro Arena, Driftfall and Totally Mall.
Several studios ran closed tests and pre-registration campaigns in June as they prepared for wider releases. Marblebound and Wrestling Manager held closed betas. Aniimo and Chasing Kaleidorider announced global testing windows. Com2uS, Netmarble and other publishers opened pre-registrations for Star Sailors, Captain Tsubasa: My Golden XI and Dawn’s Edge. Honkai: Nexus Anima scheduled an Evolution Test for July 9 as part of mobile and PC cross-platform development.
Industry developments included a court decision in favor of HoYoverse in a defamation case, with the company awarded ¥500,000 and a public apology from the defendant. A Mobile Premiere showcase is scheduled for October 2026 to highlight upcoming mobile titles. Microsoft explored native mobile ports with Sea of Thieves mentioned as a possible target. MAPPA disclosed the first official Chainsaw Man mobile game, Konami outlined a staggered release plan for Suikoden STAR LEAP, and leaks related to a Marvel Project Comet suggested plans for a large-scale mobile RPG. Netflix Games expanded its catalog with Unhinged, a psychological horror title, which arrived at the end of June.
Several live-service and legacy titles announced end-of-service dates. Netmarble scheduled Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds to close on September 17, 2026 ahead of a planned unified relaunch. Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control set a shutdown date of August 26, 2026. CounterSide is due to end service on August 26, 2026, with its studio indicating work on a possible reboot. Community backlash intensified around Papergames following the Love and Deepspace controversy, with reports that angry players sent funeral flowers and ritual items to company offices.
June’s releases spanned genres and formats. Large-scale 4X and ARPG experiences such as Dragonfall Kingdom and ARES: THE IRON VANGUARD appeared alongside casual and indie entries including ONOMATOPIA and Treble Bull. Sports and management games included Matchday: Soccer Card Game and Soccer Clash. Classic and indie titles prepared mobile ports, with Caves of Qud, Clone Drone in the Danger Zone and VA-11 Hall-A announced for mobile. The Google Play Mega Game Sale ran through the month, and pre-registrations opened for DAVE THE DIVER and BanG Dream! Our Notes, the latter also confirming a closed beta in August.
Publishers continued to use regional soft launches and closed tests to refine games ahead of wider rollouts. Platform holders and non-traditional publishers increased activity in mobile publishing and cross-platform projects. June’s activity combined release schedules, legal outcomes, shutdown notices and IP announcements that affected developer roadmaps and player communities.
