Mobile Legends MSC 2027 adds Title Defender slots

MOONTON Games announced a ‘Title Defender’ that gives the reigning MSC champion a Main Stage slot and the previous runner-up a Wild Card for MSC 2027.

MOONTON Games announced a ‘Title Defender’ mechanism for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2027 that guarantees the reigning champion a direct Main Stage slot and grants the prior runner-up a Wild Card entry.

The policy takes effect for MSC 2027 and applies to all regions covered by the tournament’s global format. Team Spirit, winner of MSC 2026 at EWC 2026, will receive the direct Main Stage slot reserved for the defending champion.

Under the new rules the reigning champion bypasses its regional qualifier and is assured a Main Stage berth. The champion’s region gains an additional Main Stage slot when the reserved slot is used.

If the defending champion already secures a Main Stage place through its regional qualifier, the reserved Title Defender slot is transferred to the next highest-seeded team from the same region.

The previous edition’s runner-up will receive a Wild Card or equivalent entry through MSC’s existing Wild Card process. That Wild Card does not occupy a Main Stage slot.

If the runner-up qualifies for the Main Stage via regional competition, the Wild Card opportunity is passed to the next-seeded team from the same region.

MOONTON described the mechanism as a way to make it easier for recent finalists to return to the international stage while maintaining regional representation and creating spots for teams from emerging regions. The company plans to review rules and slot distribution for future editions.

Organizers confirmed both benefits will be managed within the existing qualification and seeding systems, and that transfers of reserved slots will occur only when the original beneficiary already earns a Main Stage berth through regular qualifying.
