Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Draws 90% Positive Steam Rating

Modern Warfare 4’s campaign has a 90% positive rating from its first 2,000 Steam reviews during advance access, while cast members thank players and urge them to avoid spoilers.

Modern Warfare 4’s campaign has a 90% positive rating from its first 2,000 Steam reviews during advance access. Players who bought the game can complete its single-player story before the multiplayer launch.

Because multiplayer is not yet available, the current Steam reviews focus on the campaign. Users have highlighted its pacing, set pieces and cast performances. One reviewer wrote that they expected to request a refund but became so engaged that they finished the campaign in one day.

The rating may change as more players submit reviews and comment on the multiplayer. Some reviews include variations of the phrase “I didn’t feel bored at all,” while another player wrote, “You actually deserved that ending, Infinity Ward.”

Graham Hagmair, the game’s director of production, thanked the casting directors and actors for their work. “Seeing so many amazing comments about the incredible performances of our MW4 cast,” Hagmair wrote. “A big thank you to our stellar Casting Directors, Emily Schweber and Karan Sadow, who brought together such an extraordinary group of talent.”

Barry Sloane, who voices Captain John Price, addressed the response in a social media post. “Thank you for all the kind words. I see them. I read them. And I am grateful,” he wrote. Sloane also asked players to avoid revealing story details: “Let’s allow people to enjoy the game in their own time. No spoilers.”

Maria Elisa Carmago, who voices Valeria Garza, wrote that she was “Overwhelmed by your love” and had no words at that moment. She described herself as “honored and humbled” by the response.

Samuel Roukin, who portrays Simon “Ghost” Riley, wrote that the cast had “poured our guts into” the game. He thanked players for their messages and repeated the request to keep spoilers out of public comments.

The early response follows criticism of recent entries in the series. Characters in 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 were described as dull, while 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 faced criticism for its pacing and limited lasting impact.
