Monopoly Go chat led to room, four-day drive and new family
A MONOPOLY GO! chat connected Miriah and Dana after Dana was told to leave her Mississippi home; Miriah offered a room and Dana drove four days to join the household.
Miriah and Dana first connected in a MONOPOLY GO! chat group after Dana posted that she needed somewhere to go following a split from her partner. Miriah responded with an offer of a spare room, and Dana packed her belongings and drove four days from Mississippi to join Miriah’s household.
The interaction began with an in-game sticker trade that prompted further messages in the chat. Those messages moved to private conversations, and Miriah invited Dana to come stay, telling her, “Well, we have a room.” Dana accepted the invitation and completed the drive to Miriah’s home.
Dana arrived at Miriah’s doorstep feeling nervous and quiet at first. Miriah later described a short period of awkwardness that eased as they spent time together. Over weeks and months, Dana became integrated into the household routine.
Members of Miriah’s household came to regard Dana as part of the family. Miriah said she viewed Dana as a family member and summed that relationship with the phrase, “She became family.” Dana credited the game for their meeting: “If it hadn’t been for Monopoly Go, I would have never met Miriah. So, I give Monopoly Go all the thanks.”
The sequence moved from a game sticker exchange to private messages, an offer of shelter and an in-person relocation. Participants describe a transition from online interaction to shared daily life and household responsibilities.
