Moon Sweepers Sells 600,000 Copies, Plans December Update
Moon Sweepers sold more than 600,000 copies in its first few days on Steam, while developer DragDrop Games plans a December update focused on late-game content.
Moon Sweepers sold more than 600,000 copies in its first few days on Steam, according to developer DragDrop Games. Its concurrent player count reached 80,385 during the launch weekend and was still rising when the studio provided the figures.
The co-op game assigns players to remove Lunar Dust from the Moon with a crew of workers. After paying for travel and survival supplies, the crew can afford only a toothbrush to begin the job. Gathering dust generates money for better equipment, including larger brooms, flexible brushes and, later, a sweeper truck.
Players can spend their earnings on solar panels, buildings and conveyor belts. These systems allow them to process materials and expand from manual cleaning into a larger automated operation.
DragDrop is preparing update 1.1 for December. The update will focus on the late game, which currently has fewer activities and unlocks than the studio wants. Planned additions include new production machines, longer manufacturing chains, more materials and products, extra tools and upgrades, and more options for large-scale automation.
The update will also add building improvements and expand player progression. DragDrop is working on performance changes to help larger bases run more smoothly. Bug fixes and other improvements are also planned.
The studio is considering content for after players finish cleaning the Moon. “Spoiler alert: more work,” DragDrop wrote, adding that cleaning the Moon “might only be the beginning of your career.” The developer has not provided details about content planned after update 1.1.
“We’re nowhere near finished with Moon Sweepers,” the studio wrote. DragDrop added that it is reviewing player feedback and using it to decide which parts of the game to improve next.
