Mortal Shell 2: Find the Chapel Key and Axe & Dagger
The Chapel Key is hidden past the Mushroom Village beacon. Cross the bridge, clear the bonfire enemies, pass a nearby gate while facing the fire and pick up the key to open the chapel.
Players looking for the Chapel Key and the Axe and Dagger weapon in Mortal Shell 2 must search past the Mushroom Village beacon rather than at the chapel itself. The chained chapel door sits west of the beacon, but the key is hidden off the main path and does not appear on the in-game map.
Fast travel to or reach the Mushroom Village beacon on foot. Instead of heading straight to the chapel, continue past the beacon and follow the path over a bridge. After the bridge, players will find a large bonfire surrounded by granny-type enemies; one of those enemies plays an accordion. Defeat all foes at the bonfire before moving on.
While facing the bonfire, look to the right to find a nearby gate. Walk through that gate while keeping the bonfire in view. Passing through the gate in that orientation triggers an illusion that reveals a previously invisible stone statue. A key hangs from the statue’s hand; take it to add the Chapel Key to your inventory.
Return to the chained chapel door west of the Mushroom Village beacon, interact with the door and confirm you want to use the Chapel Key. The door will open and a small dungeon lies inside. The Axe and Dagger weapon is located at the end of that dungeon.
Most weapons in Mortal Shell 2 are found by buying a map from Merrick, following its marker and completing a dungeon. The Chapel Key and the Axe and Dagger require an extra detour because the key is hidden by an illusion and is not marked on the map.
Players should clear all enemies around the bonfire before searching for the gate, and keep the bonfire in sight when passing through the gate so the illusion appears. Expect standard dungeon combat and exploration after opening the chapel door.
