Mortal Shell 2: Clear Corrupted Barriers With Mether’s Breath

Contribute roughly 10 Ova to Marrow Keep by cleansing corrupted beacons-boss beacons give the largest rewards-to add Mether’s Breath to your beacon menu.

Cold Symmetry’s Mortal Shell 2 requires the Mether’s Breath ability to clear corrupted barriers that block paths. The ability appears in the beacon menu after players add Ova to Marrow Keep by cleansing corrupted beacons.

Players earn Ova by interacting with corrupted beacons found around the world. If a beacon is already clean, the option to cleanse it will not appear.

Standard corrupted beacons typically award one or three Ova. Beacons tied to major boss encounters often grant substantially more, frequently 20 or more Ova when cleansed. Clearing a boss and then cleansing its nearby beacon is the fastest way to raise Ova totals.

Based on player experience, adding roughly 10 Ova to Marrow Keep will cause Mether’s Breath to be added to the beacon menu. The exact total required can vary depending on which beacons are cleansed, so 10 Ova is a practical target.

Once Mether’s Breath is in the beacon menu, players can fast travel to beacons and use the ability to dissolve corrupted walls. To clear a barrier, travel to the blocked area, approach the wall and hold X on a PlayStation controller; the corruption will dissipate and the path will open.

Corrupted barriers appear early and are placed across multiple zones. After gaining Mether’s Breath, players can return to previously blocked routes by fast traveling to the nearest beacon instead of retracing long routes on foot. Noting the locations of corrupted walls while exploring makes later cleanup quicker.

The game ties access to certain areas to Ova contributions at Marrow Keep. Prioritizing boss encounters and their associated beacons yields the most Ova per cleanse and speeds the addition of Mether’s Breath to the beacon menu.
