MSI 2026 Play-In peaks at 1.39M as T1 draws biggest audiences

The MSI 2026 Play-In in Daejeon reached a peak of more than 1.39 million viewers after two days, a 59.8% increase from the same stage in 2025, led by T1’s matches.

The Mid-Season Invitational 2026 Play-In in Daejeon, South Korea, recorded a peak audience of roughly 1.39 million viewers after two days of competition. That figure is 59.8% higher than the Play-In peak at the same point of MSI 2025.

T1’s matches produced the largest single-match audiences of the opening stage. The organization’s 3–0 win over Team Liquid registered the highest peak of the Play-In at just over 1.39 million viewers. A subsequent 3–0 victory against Karmine Corp peaked above 1.2 million viewers. The Team Liquid series ranks among the most-watched matches in that North American franchise’s history, and the Karmine Corp series set a peak-viewer record for a match featuring a European League of Legends team.

Language-specific peaks shifted with team placement changes. Portuguese-language peak viewership fell from 203,000 in 2025 to about 44,500 in 2026, a decline of roughly 78 percentage points, after FURIA began MSI 2026 in the Bracket Stage instead of the Play-In. Korean-language peak viewership rose from 116,000 to 462,000, driven by T1 playing on home soil. Vietnamese-language peak viewership for the opening stage exceeded last year’s opening-day peak of 153,700 Vietnamese-speaking viewers, a figure that had been produced in part by GAM Esports in 2025.

T1 started the Play-In after failing to qualify directly through the LCK for the second time in three years. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and his teammates opened with consecutive 3–0 wins over Team Liquid and Karmine Corp. With those results, T1 requires one more victory to claim the sole Play-In berth in the Bracket Stage. MSI 2026 reduced the number of Play-In teams advancing compared with 2025: only one Play-In slot is available this year rather than two.

On July 1, T1 will face the winner of the lower-bracket match between Team Liquid and Karmine Corp in a winner-takes-all series to determine which team moves on to the Bracket Stage.

The current peak of about 1.39 million is approximately 23% higher than the MSI 2025 Play-In final peak of 1.13 million. MSI 2026 has reached the top four most-watched League of Legends events of 2026 by peak viewers and has exceeded the LCK 2026 Season in peak viewership.

Changes in which teams began in the Play-In altered regional language peaks, and T1’s presence on home soil accounted for the largest reported single-match audiences during the opening stage.
