Netmarble has launched RF Online Next, an MMORPG developed with Unreal Engine 5 and available on iOS, Android and PC. The title revives the franchise that first appeared in 2004 and preserves the series’ faction-driven PvP focus while updating visuals and system performance for modern platforms.

The centerpiece is Mining Wars on the planet Novus, where three factions contest rare Holy Stones. Battles can involve up to 450 players. Control of mining nodes and hunting zones grants exclusive access to resources and market advantages for the controlling faction.

Players can deploy Sacred Weapons called Ultimate Gears. These include boardable Mechanic Armor Units (MAUs) that players can pilot, stationary Launchers that automatically target enemies, and single-use Animus bio-weapons that deliver powerful area effects and then disappear.

Combat also centers on switchable biosuits that let characters change roles during fights. Available suits are Punisher, Phantom, Enforcer, Psypher, Dreadnought, Technician, Arbiter and Demolisher. The suits cover melee, ranged, support and defensive functions and can be swapped in response to battlefield conditions.

A flexible flight system enables three-dimensional engagements across land and sky. Players can approach encounters from above or exploit ground-level blind spots. The ability to switch biosuits in combat is intended to allow teams to adapt during large-scale skirmishes and sieges.

RF Online Next includes PvE content alongside faction wars. Raid content offers World Boss encounters and the Babylon Occupation Battle, which includes player-controlled mechs. The Arcane Trials are party-focused dungeons that emphasize role coordination, while the Elysium Scramble is designed to test guild strategy and cohesion.

The game uses a player-driven free-market economy. Factions that win major battles can collect taxes from server- and world-level markets. Those revenues provide resources for upgrades and can affect currency values based on trade volume.

Netmarble developed the title to retain core combat systems from the original game while adding higher player counts, flight combat and more deployable battlefield assets. RF Online Next is released for cross-platform play on iOS, Android and PC.
