Noble Legacy adds survival mechanics to medieval town builder

Survival Update adds hunger, warmth, energy and hygiene meters, overhauls early progression and requires a new Kingdom Mode save; Creative Mode saves are unaffected.

Studio 369 released a Survival Update for Noble Legacy in the game’s early access build. The patch adds hunger, body temperature, rest and cleanliness meters, changes starting progression and requires players to begin a new Kingdom Mode save.

The new systems take effect from the first night in the Greenwood starting area. Players must secure food, warmth, shelter and cleanliness before they can found a full settlement. Cooking, hunting, crafting and storage are presented as early priorities to teach the new mechanics.

The update expands the game world with new freshwater locations such as lakes and ponds and introduces a poplar forest biome. Resource distribution across the map has been rebalanced to encourage travel between regions, and wild flax is now a gatherable material.

Crafting and cooking options were extended. Players can craft basic torches, bandages and salves, and learn recipes including roasted mushrooms and wild meat skewers.

Progression and housing were adjusted so players can build a personal house earlier, place a steward’s workbench and desk, and assign a personal bed for saving and resting.

Manual saves have been removed from Kingdom Mode and replaced with a save-and-rest system tied to sleeping. Players can record progress by going to bed during the day to save, or sleep at night to restore health and energy, remove minor afflictions and advance camp activity. Creative Mode save behavior is unchanged.

Custom game options now include a permadeath toggle. Studio 369 described permadeath as a temporary challenge while it builds marriage, household and heir systems that will allow a story to continue through surviving heirs. The developer noted the next content release, Hearth and Heart, will focus on households, marriage, children and legacy progression.

The studio wrote, “Our goal is to create greater tension, encourage preparation, and make exploration, hunting, and survival decisions feel more meaningful.” It acknowledged earlier bugs, balancing changes and experimental systems and thanked players for their patience. For a limited time, existing early access owners receive the Alaunt War Dog companion DLC free. The Survival Update is live and the game is discounted in the platform’s summer sale.
